Compressed air technology sweeps global export awards

Compressed air technology
Melbourne compressed air technology company, Global EARS, has won the Small Business Export Award at the Australian Export Awards for its closed loop compressor invention which lowers the cost of using a compressor.
Sarah Falson

The company’s product – E.A.R.S. (the Exhausted Air Recycling System) – is a “major advance in air compressor technology that allows a safer work environment and lower costs,” according to the company.

The technology uses a closed loop system which returns expelled air back to the air compressor, which is different to a traditional air compressor which loses air from the exhaust system.

The product has been successfully commercialised and exported all over the world, and doubles the capacity of an existing air compressor, according to its manufacturer.

E.A.R.S was designed by Chris Bosua – a motor mechanic who was trained in pneumatics but became frustrated trying to make a machine work with an air compressor that was too small for the task.

His invention not only generates more air, but allows energy consumption under continuous use to drop by 40 per cent.

There is also a dramatic reduction in noise generated in the use of pneumatic tools like air drills, and the volume of dust, debris and other potentially hazardous emissions around a workshop or site is also reduced, says the company.

The 13 Australian Export Award winners were announced on 5 December 2008 at the National Awards presentation, hosted by the Minister for Trade, the Hon. Simon Crean, MP.

The national finalists have generated export earnings worth $9.2 billion during the last financial year and directly employed more than 41,000 people.

The 2008 Australian Export Awards (AEA) recognise Australian businesses for excellence and achievement in exporting.

84 Australian companies have been selected as national finalists from 384 entrants.
The Australian Export Awards are co-hosted by AUSTRADE and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).

I am astounded

I have followed This invention since it was first shown on Australian TV. Chris knows my opinion is the device defies the laws of thermodynamics. So I have to congratulate him on his ability to sell it. Does not change my mind though.
